MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College’s partner, Phoenix Truck Driving School, has been located at the Neal Campus – Kingman location for nearly over a year and now the school is celebrating its anniversary with a career fair.
The school is inviting back all of its graduates, as well as businesses throughout Mohave County that rely on truck drivers, to network with those looking for work in the trucking and transportation industries.
“Phoenix Truck Driving School wants to educate Mohave County on why truck driving is a solid career option. We hope those interested in driving will come to the anniversary event and learn from local businesses, and our graduates, what exactly a job behind the wheel means during this day in age,” said Jeff Sroka, Phoenix Truck Driving School site manager on the MCC campus.
Sroka added, that there’s no other time in our history where the truck driver has been this essential to our economy. There is a shortage of drivers and they are needed to deliver products to grocery stores.
The event is from 1 to 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5, at 1971 Jagerson Ave., Building 105. Attendees can learn about what’s happening in the truck driving industry and why truck drivers’ salaries are continuing to increase. Food and light refreshments will also be available to enjoy.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Mohave County has a higher than national average for unemployment. Truck driving can provide a higher income then the current median household income of $42,859 in Kingman.
Those who don’t have a Commercial Driver’s License and are considering joining the truck driving industry, school advisors will be available to answer questions about different training programs to get you on the road to a new and rewarding career.
