MOHAVE COUNTY – Stephanie Angle, a Mohave Community College alumni and Kingman native, started her journey at MCC since she was 14 years old when she took college level classes while attending Kingman High School. Angle received her Associates of Art in General Studies at Mohave Community College in 1988.
The first class she took at MCC was piano and had to get special permission from the college president, dean of students and the board of governors in order to take the class that she needed for a music competition. After taking her first class she continued to be an MCC student while also being a high school student.
Angle and her family have a strong connection with MCC. She was also an adjunct professor at MCC and her four children have all been a part of the Dual Enrollment program at MCC. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and her Master of Education in Leadership at Northern Arizona University.
Angle said while earning her bachelor’s degree, she used the NAU satellite campus at MCC to finish her degree, which allowed her to stay close to home.
Angle has also taken classes in accounting, psychology, anatomy and other subjects at MCC to learn more in other fields she’s interested in knowing.
“MCC allows me to continue my interests by exploring programs off and on as I need to and earn additional certifications and credits through them,” she said.
In May 2021, Angle was one of the three recipients to receive the first MCC Alumni Vision Award, which is given to MCC alumni who have worked, or are working to help improve their local communities.
“I’m honored and surprised to receive this award. This community means a lot to me and my family,” she said.
Since a young age, Angle would teach her siblings growing up and it eventually became her passion and career path. She has been an educator for over 27 years and is currently the Student Achievement Leader at Kingman Unified School District. Angle oversees testing and coordinating with teachers to help work with them on their instructional practices in the classrooms.
