What is Canvas?
This is the learning management system (LMS) the college uses. This is where you can access your courses, your course materials, message your instructor, and more.
Logging into Canvas and MyMohave.
Same password for both
Both systems use your student email, which is similar to your username but has @students.mohave.edu at the end.
Example: JSmith0749@students.mohave.edu
Two step verification will need to be set up on your first login and will be used every time thereafter.
Use Chrome or Firefox Internet browsers for best results
Your instructor wants you to succeed. If you don’t understand a concept or an assignment, message them in Canvas right away. You can also virtually visit your instructor during their office hours. Getting to know your instructor can also make class more fun and create a sense of community.
Student Support Connections
This is your one-stop-shop for all kinds of services. On this website, you can make appointments to meet with an advisor or schedule virtual tutoring. Tutoring through both MCC and TutorMe is all absolutely FREE!
MCC Libraries
Thelibraries offer lots of digital resources you can use from anywhere with internet access. Use your Canvas login information to access ebooks, articles, and videos in the databases. There are also self-guided tutorials on APA, MLA, and avoiding plagiarism. Finally, library staff offer virtual research workshops and one-on-one help.
TutorMe
FREE online tutoring option! You can access this virtual tutoring service through Canvas. Click on one of your courses. On the left-hand toolbar, you will see a link for TutorMe Tutoring. You can work with a tutor in real-time or send in your work for review.
MCC Connect or 866-664-2832
MCC Connect can help answer questions that you have about school, your account, technology, and much more.
Advisors
Advisors can help you develop an education plan for goal achievement, select your class schedule for an upcoming semester, explore majors or careers, and connect you to campus resources.
Student Organizations
Student organizations can be a great way to meet people, build real-world skills, find a sense of community, and have fun. Some clubs have started incorporating technology that allows students to virtually participate during the pandemic.
Distance Education Students (Remote and Online)
As a distance student, you may feel very isolated at times. You don’t get to enjoy the same type of experience as you would in a traditional classroom such as talking to your classmates about upcoming assignments, comparing study strategies, or even complaining about a test. You may have to wait for an answer to a question if you are communicating with instructors through email, discussion boards, or messaging. It can be pretty overwhelming, but you are not alone. There are many resources at MCC that can help you be successful in an online course. Some of these services can even help create a sense of community. This video explains the difference between our remote and online classes. Note: The video mentions our old learning management system, however MCC is now using Canvas.
