International Students

The College welcomes international students who, in addition to meeting the requirements for admission, have demonstrated English language proficiency, have documented financial ability to meet the costs of attendance. All international students are required to comply with appropriate immigration standards and regulations.

In order to be accepted as an international student at Mohave Community College, a prospective student must:

  1. Be a high school graduate
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in the English language through the following tests offered through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. The official score report must be sent by ETS directly to MCC in order for it to be considered official.
    • Paper Exam: 500 or higher
    • Computer-based: 173 or higher
    • iBT: 61 or higher
  3. Have U.S. health insurance coverage which includes repatriation and medical evacuation clauses. The institution does not offer student health insurance options.
  4. Complete Affidavit of Support showing that they have sufficient funds to attend Mohave Community College; including tuition and fees, living expenses, books, and health insurance.
  5. Submit certified copies of official transcripts from each secondary school, college, and university: must be officially translated and evaluated by a member company of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

NOTE: The proficiency in English language requirement may be waived by the Registrar based on the
following exemptions:

  1. Official transcripts indicating completion of ENG 101 and ENG 102 (or their equivalents) at a regionally accredited institution and earning at least a grade of “C” or its equivalent for each course.
  2. Official high school transcripts indicating completion of all four years of attendance at a U.S. high school.
  3. International student is a citizen of a country where English is recognized as an official language. 

All of the above materials must be received by June 1 for a fall semester and November 1 for a spring semester. International students cannot be admitted for a summer term.

A prospective international student that meets these requirements and has submitted the appropriate documentation will need to complete the international admissions application for MCC in order to be sent an I-20 form which is necessary to apply for a student visa to enter the United States. Certification and processing of all international students will be at the discretion of the designated school officials (DSOs).

Once admitted, an international student must complete a College-designated placement determination (e.g., placement test, multiple measures) prior to initial enrollment. The tuition rate for all international students regardless of length of stay will be classified as Out-of-State.

Enrollment Requirements

Active F-1 Academic Students:

  1. Maintain at least 12 credits in an approved program of study each semester
  2. May not exceed more than one (1) online course per semester (e.g., online, synchronized, hybrid, plural, remote)
  3. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and above
  4. Registration (including adding, dropping and withdrawals) will be handled by P/DSO
  5. Meet with an advisor each semester
  6. Discuss emergency situation and needs with your P/DSO
  7. Campus employment has to be authorized and supported by your P/DSO
  8. If unable to arrive before the session start date, inform your P/DSO immediately
  9. The P/DSO will provide ongoing enrollment monitoring and reporting to SEVIS

NOTE: Failure to meet these requirements in any semester will result in the international student status being rescinded.

Approved F-1 Programs:

  • Associate of Art in Art (ART.AA)
  • Associate of Art, Visual Communication (ARTV.AA)
  • Associate of Art in Liberal Arts (LBA.AA)
  • Associate of Art in Mathematics (MATH.AA)
  • Associate of General Studies in General Studies (GS.AGS)
  • Associate of Science in Chemistry (CHM.AS)
  • Associate of Science in Engineering (ENGR.AS)
  • Associate of Science in Life Science (LS.AS)
  • Associate of Science in Science (SC.AS)

Active M-1 Vocational Students:

  1. Maintain at least 12 credits in an approved program of study each semester
  2. May not be registered in any online course offerings (e.g., online, synchronized, hybrid, plural, remote)
  3. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and above
  4. Registration (including adding, dropping and withdrawals) will be handled by P/DSO
  5. Meet with an advisor each semester
  6. Discuss emergency situation and needs with your P/DSO
  7. Are not eligible for campus employment
  8. If unable to arrive before the session start date, inform your P/DSO immediately
  9. The P/DSO will provide ongoing enrollment monitoring and reporting to SEVIS

  • Certificate of Proficiency in Advanced Automotive Technology (ATA.CT)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Basic Automotive Technology (ATB.CT)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Baking (CULB.CT)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Culinary Arts (CHSM.CT)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Food Management (FM.CT)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Paramedic (EMS.CT)
