Federal Loan Counseling

Student loans are a debt that must be repaid. You can review your borrowing history through the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS).

Students who borrow through a federal student loan program are required to complete Entrance Counseling when they first borrow and Exit Counseling when drop below half time enrollment. Counseling sessions are generally completed in 30 minutes. MCC receives confirmation of completion electronically.

Entrance Counseling

Entrance Counseling is completed online. The session educates borrowers about their rights and responsibilities. It includes tools and information to help borrowers successfully repay their loans after college. Entrance Counseling is required for all first time borrowers. Loan funds will not be disbursed until Entrance Counseling has been completed.

Financial Awareness Counseling

MCC requires all non-first time borrowers to complete Financial Awareness Counseling each year they borrow. Financial Awareness Counseling is completed online. The session provides tools and information to help you understand your financial aid and assist you in managing your finances.

Exit Counseling

Exit Counseling is completed online. The session educates borrowers about their rights and responsibilities. It includes tools and information to help borrowers successfully repay their loans. MCC will notify borrowers by email at the end each semester of the requirement to complete Exit Counseling. This notification is sent to the email address provided on your FAFSA. Failure to complete Exit Counseling does not exempt a borrower from any aspect of repayment.
