Federal Loan Counseling

Student loans are a debt that must be repaid. You can review your borrowing history through Federal Student Aid’s website.

Students who borrow through a federal student loan program are required to complete Entrance Counseling when they first borrow and Exit Counseling when drop below half time enrollment. Counseling sessions are generally completed in 30 minutes. MCC receives confirmation of completion electronically.

Entrance Counseling

Entrance Counseling is completed online. The session educates borrowers about their rights and responsibilities. It includes tools and information to help borrowers successfully repay their loans after college. Entrance Counseling is required for all first time borrowers. Loan funds will not be disbursed until Entrance Counseling has been completed.

Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment

MCC requires all borrowers to complete their Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment each year they borrow. Annual Student Loan Acknowledgment is completed online. The session provides information to help you understand the amount of aid you have received and what your monthly loan payment may be.

Exit Counseling

Exit Counseling is completed online. The session educates borrowers about their rights and responsibilities. It includes tools and information to help borrowers successfully repay their loans. MCC will notify borrowers by email at the end of each semester about the requirement to complete Exit Counseling. This notification is sent to the email address your Self Service record. Failure to complete Exit Counseling does not exempt a borrower from any aspect of repayment.
