Starting in the 2024-2025 academic year, this 18-month program is designed to prepare students to be eligible to take the National Board for Respiratory Care Exams. This program includes traditional and remote learning opportunities, onsite and offsite clinical experiences, and simulation experiences with some of the best equipment available to the industry. Topics of fundamentals of respiratory care for adult, pediatric, and neonate patients are covered.

Mohave Community College is currently in the process of seeking CoARC accreditation for the respiratory care program. However, Mohave Community College can provide no assurance that accreditation will be granted by the CoARC.

Program Goal

The Respiratory Care Practitioner Program’s goal is to prepare graduates with demonstrated competence in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains of respiratory care practice as performed by registered respiratory therapists (RRTs).

What is a Respiratory Care Practitioner?

A Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is a healthcare professional with specialized training in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with respiratory disorders. RCPs often have a broader scope of practice, including more advanced diagnostic and therapeutic responsibilities, depending on their level of training and the regulations of their practicing region.

Where do Respiratory Care Practitioners work?

Most Respiratory Care Practitioners work in acute care hospitals. Other potential employers include Outpatient Clinics, Home Health Agencies, Pulmonary Rehabilitation facilities, and Sleep Disorder Centers.

Can I apply to the Respiratory Care Program if I have a criminal record?

The application process is open to all interested students. However, each individual state has the primary authority of approving or denying an RCP license application.

Do I need to pass an examination to be a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner?

Upon completion of the CoARC accredited Respiratory Care Program and conferral of the degree, the student is eligible to apply to the National Board for Respiratory Care for approval to take the necessary exams for licensure.

How long does it take to complete the Respiratory Care Program?

The Respiratory Care Program is an eighteen (18) month program.

What is the cost of the program?

Minimum Course fee: $2,200.00 
In-State Tuition:      +$5400.00
Total:                         $7,600.00 (In addition to a required text book and clinical uniform(s))

(Minimum Course Fee includes stethoscope, Clinical Pocket Guide, Bandage Shears, Lab Supplies, and Lindsay Jones test prep and study program).

Is financial aid available for the Respiratory Care Program?

Mohave Community College offers a comprehensive financial aid program to help students and their families meet their educational costs. Financial aid is designed to help to bridge the gap between the total cost of their education and the amount they are expected to contribute, as determined by the information provided on the FAFSA. Financial aid is awarded on a yearly basis. Students must reapply each year. Scholarships are available as well.

Is the Respiratory Care Program Accredited?

Mohave Community College is in the process of acquiring accreditation from the Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). However, Mohave Community College can provide no assurance that the accreditation will be granted by CoARC.

Where will clinical rotations take place?

Currently the Respiratory Care Program has affiliation and approval for clinicals rotations at Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC), Western Arizona Regional Medical Center (WARMC), and Havasu Regional Medical Center (HRMC).
