Phlebotomists play an essential role in the healthcare field by drawing blood to support healthcare providers in diagnosing diseases, monitoring health conditions, and contributing to research efforts. The Phlebotomy Certificate program is designed to prepare you for an entry-level position in various settings, including hospitals, physicians’ offices, private medical laboratories, and blood donation centers. As a trained phlebotomist, you will have the important responsibility of collecting blood specimens through capillary puncture and venipuncture, utilizing appropriate techniques, and demonstrating excellent customer service skills. At Mohave College, you will receive hands-on training on how to safely obtain blood specimens by learning universal precautions and order of the draw, all while ensuring the integrity of the samples collected.
Students will be required to complete a 90-hour Clinical Externship at the end of the program in a Medical Lab facility in order to complete the Certificate Program.
