The Mohave Community College Bullhead City campus is dedicated to providing a healthy, comfortable, and educationally productive environment for students, employees and visitors. In order to promote a healthy learning and working atmosphere, Mohave Community College Bullhead City Campus is a 100% tobacco free location, effective March 26, 2018. Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes and all use of tobacco, shall be prohibited from all campus property and facilities, including but not limited to parking lots, rooftops, courtyards, plazas, entrance and exit ways, vehicles, sidewalks, common areas, grounds and libraries. The term “tobacco’ refers to all tobacco containing products, including but not limited to: cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, blunts, hookah, pipes, oral tobacco, chew and/or snuff. It also includes any product intending to mimic tobacco products or containing tobacco flavoring.
Support signage prohibiting the use of smoking instruments and tobacco shall be placed throughout the campus.
Continued violations by employees and students shall be handled through the respective conduct procedures for employees and students.

The overall enforcement and authority of this policy lies with the President’s office. It is also a shared community responsibility, meaning that all students, faculty, and staff share in the responsibility to assist in keeping the campus tobacco free. Signage to help the campus community and visitors will be placed throughout the campus.
Violations of Policy
Violation of this policy may result in corrective action under the Student Code of Conduct or college human resources policies. Visitors refusing to comply may be asked to leave campus.
Despite extensive efforts to make the campus community aware of the new tobacco free regulation, some people will be unaware of the change. Initial contact with violators will be used as an opportunity to educate tobacco users of the regulation’s existence and solicit voluntary compliance. Individuals making initial contact with the violator will offer information about the regulation and provide cessation resource information if the violator is interested in receiving it.
In order to properly enforce the tobacco free procedure, all violators will receive an initial warning about the prohibition of tobacco on campus property. For students, subsequent violations by the same offender will result in a referral of the student to the campus dean or designee. This referral will be made via an incident report/behavior alert outlining the circumstances of the violation, including date, time and location of the initial warning. All tobacco free violations will be treated in the same manner as any other Student Code of Conduct violation. For employees, subsequent violations by the same offender will result in a referral of the employee to his or her immediate supervisor. This referral will be made via an incident report/behavior alert outlining the circumstances of the violation, including date, time and location of the initial warning. All tobacco free violations will be treated in the same manner as any other Human Resource policy or regulation violation. For visitors, subsequent violations by the same offender will result in dismissal from the campus property.

Employee tobacco cessation resources can found through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) located on the MCC Employee Team Site, through employee health insurance plans, and the Mohave County Health Department.
