In compliance with Arizona Revised Statutes 13-3821 and 13-3826, Mohave Community College will post level 2 and level 3 sex offender notifications on its Web site. These notifications will identify any student that is determined to be a level 2 or level 3 sex offender. Additional information can be obtained at the State of Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Sex Offender InfoCenter.

Arizona Revised Statute 13-3821 – This statute maintains that the state department of corrections, together with the department of public safety and any applicable county sheriff will register any person convicted of a sex offense prior to that person’s release from confinement. Within 72 hours after release, the registered person’s records will be forwarded to the department of public safety as well as the county sheriff where the registered person plans to reside. After that, a risk assessment is performed by the appropriate law enforcement agency, registered sex offenders are assigned one of three risk levels: level 1 (low risk), level 2 (intermediate risk) or level 3 (high risk). These levels outline the likelihood the individual will re-offend.

Arizona Revised Statute 13-3825 – The community notification guidelines committee that has been established is responsible for providing the appropriate notification methods based on an individual’s risk level. In the event that a level 2 or level 3 offender is identified, ARS 13-3826 states that notification will be given to surrounding neighborhoods, schools, appropriate community groups, and prospective employers. It further states that the notification will include a flyer with a photograph and exact address of the offender as well as a summary of the offender’s status and criminal background.
