Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Bighorns go purple.

October 2020 – Domestic Violence Awareness Month

We would like to say a huge thank you to all our bighorns that participated in the virtual events for DVAM 2020!

Le Ann G. was selected as the lucky recipient of a new Kindle Fire Tablet for participating in the virtual book club discussions.

Krystal P., Jessica P, and Ana L. were selected as the lucky recipients of a Boomer Bighorn Goody Box for their contributions to our virtual wall of positivity and hope.

March 2021 – No More Week

No More. Together we can end domestic violence and sexual assault

We look forward to celebrating the eighth annual No More week in March 2021.   No More is a movement to raise public awareness and engage bystanders to bring an end to domestic violence and sexual assault.

April 2021 – Denim Day

Denim day established 1999

Denim Day is the longest-running sexual violence prevention and education campaign in history.  The campaign began after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a  rape conviction because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Every April we support the Denim Day campaign to bring awareness to victim-blaming and destructive myths that surround sexual violence.
