April 28th, 2021 – Denim Day
Denim Day is the longest-running sexual violence prevention and education campaign in history. The campaign began after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Every April we support the Denim Day campaign to bring awareness to victim-blaming and destructive myths that surround sexual violence.
This April we are Crafting with Denim to show our support! Be sure to check out the Community Education classes to learn how to use your old pair of jeans to create a crafty denim project that you can enter into our contest and be sure to join us for our Crafting Party on April 28th. More details to follow.
