Mohave College is expanding career and technical education opportunities for students and strengthening the workforce pipeline for Mohave County communities with the launch of two new certificate programs at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in Kingman: Manufacturing Processes and Systems and Industrial Maintenance and Mechatronics.
The new programs are designed to prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing and industrial operations through hands-on training in the kind of systems used in modern production environments. According to the college catalog, the Manufacturing Processes and Systems certificate gives students a strong foundation in manufacturing principles, with emphasis on industrial safety, motor controls, pneumatics, and related technical skills. The Industrial Maintenance and Mechatronics certificate is designed for students seeking advanced skills in modern manufacturing and industrial systems.
“These programs are a major step forward for Mohave College and for the communities we serve,” said Jason Gee, Dean of Career and Technical Education at Mohave College. “They create more opportunities for students to train for high-demand technical careers without leaving our region, and they help ensure local employers have access to a stronger pipeline of skilled workers. The Advanced Manufacturing Training Center was built to support exactly this kind of growth, and these programs reflect our commitment to providing real-world education that leads to real opportunity.”
The programs are based at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center, Mohave College’s 36,000-square-foot workforce training facility at the Kingman Airport Industrial Park. The center includes training space for industrial maintenance, robotics, welding, HVAC, CAD, SIM/VR labs, and collaborative innovation, giving students access to specialized equipment and a modern learning environment built around workforce needs.
For students, the launch means new local pathways into technical fields that can lead to strong careers in manufacturing, automation, equipment maintenance, and industrial systems. Based on federal occupational data, training in these areas can align with careers such as electro-mechanical and mechatronics technician, industrial machinery mechanic, machinery maintenance worker, and millwright. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a median annual wage of $70,760 for electro-mechanical and mechatronics technologists and technicians and $63,510 for industrial machinery mechanics, machinery maintenance workers, and millwrights.
The new certificates also support a larger vision for Mohave County by helping students build job-ready skills close to home while supporting the region’s long-term economic growth. Arizona Commerce Authority data shows manufacturing remains a major part of the state economy, with more than 195,000 manufacturing workers statewide, underscoring the continued need for talent development in technical fields.
Mohave College’s new programs also connect with broader advanced manufacturing efforts in Arizona. The college was recently included in the expansion of the ReadyTechGo Initiative, which brought additional advanced manufacturing training opportunities to rural communities. At Mohave College, those efforts now complement the larger milestone of launching these new certificate pathways for local students.
