MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave College Medical Assisting Certificate program has earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), recognizing the program’s alignment with national quality standards in health professions education.

The accreditation was awarded following a comprehensive review and recommendation by the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB). The program was found to be in full compliance with all required standards, with no areas of non-compliance identified.

“This accreditation affirms the quality of education and training our students are already receiving,” said Dr. June Weiss, Dean of Health and Public Services Division. “It reflects the dedication of our faculty, the strength of our curriculum, and our commitment to preparing students for success in healthcare careers.”

CAAHEP accreditation is the gold standard for allied health programs nationwide. It ensures students are learning the knowledge, skills and professional competencies needed to meet industry expectations and pursue certification and employment in the medical assisting field.

The College Medical Assisting program prepares students for both clinical and administrative roles in healthcare settings, including physician offices, clinics and outpatient facilities. Students gain hands-on experience and real-world training that supports immediate entry into the workforce or continued advancement in healthcare careers.

For students, accreditation provides an added level of confidence that their education meets nationally recognized standards. It can also support eligibility for certification exams and expand employment opportunities after graduation.

“This is an important milestone as we continue to strengthen and expand healthcare training opportunities across Mohave County,” said Dr. Weiss.  “Our focus remains on meeting workforce needs while providing students with high-quality, affordable pathways into in-demand careers.”

The next comprehensive evaluation of the program is scheduled for Spring 2031.
