MOHAVE COUNTY – In a continued demonstration of its deep commitment to the community, Mohave College has formed a multi-agency partnership with Creative Care, ARIZONA@WORK, and Western Arizona Vocational Education Career and Technical Education District (WAVE) to expand local awareness of long-term care careers and support workforce needs across the region.
The collaboration focuses on encouraging more students and community members to pursue positions within long-term care facilities by showcasing the wide variety of roles essential to high-quality resident care. Participants will gain exposure to fields such as nursing, administrative support, dietary services, maintenance, therapy services, and social work through hands-on demonstrations, informational sessions and on-campus career events.
Mohave College programs will provide students with various opportunities to participate in hands-on learning in a long-term care environment. These opportunities will vary from shadowing staff while they complete their normal job duties to actually take care of residents or working on maintenance issues.
“Serving our community means investing in the people and industries that support it,” said Dr. June Weiss, Dean of Health and Public Services. “Long-term care facilities rely on a broad network of skilled professionals to take care of the aging population, and we believe it’s important to highlight these meaningful career paths while helping address critical workforce shortages.”
ARIZONA@WORK will offer career guidance, job readiness resources and support for applicants seeking positions in long-term care. WAVE will align training programs and certification options to ensure a steady pipeline of job-ready candidates.
According to leaders at Creative Care, the partnership reflects the type of collaboration needed to strengthen the community’s care network.
“Caring for our residents takes dedication from an entire team,” said Kristen Ott, Creative Care CEO. “By working together, we can create more opportunities for individuals to enter these rewarding careers and ensure our community continues to receive the care it deserves.”
