MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College congratulates Cat Therrien for being selected as the 2025 recipient of the Ellen Licari Service to Students Award.
The award recognizes employees who go above and beyond to put students first. It was established in honor of Ellen Licari, a former MCC advisor who was dedicated to helping students succeed. Licari passed away in 2011, and the award is presented annually to an MCC employee who exemplifies her commitment to student support.
“Winning the Ellen Licari award is one of the biggest highlights of my career and it means so much to me because I was nominated by my students,” Therrien said. “My heart is with my students so to have them choose me inspires me to keep pushing every day for them to have a great college experience.”
As a student life coordinator on the Kingman campus, Therrien said she loves being surrounded by students and seeing the look on their faces when they achieve something they thought was impossible. She takes pride in watching students grow in all aspects of their lives since starting at MCC. In her role, she strives to inspire students by listening, guiding, and reminding them that they are doing great things.
Her nominator, Milaya Jackson, Student Activities Council President, said she selected Therrien because she always puts students first.
“She’s always prepared and ready for whatever ideas we students throw at her, she always puts students first and makes sure that we are heard,” she said. “Without her, my last few semesters at MCC wouldn’t have been as good as they turned out to be.”
Therrien has worked at the college for nearly three years. She’s originally from California but has lived in Arizona for about 15 years. When she’s not helping students plan successful events, she enjoys going to dirt bike races, playing softball, and spend time with her boyfriend and animals.
Therrien will be honored during employee convocation in the fall. The 54th annual Mohave Community College Commencement ceremony will take place at 3 PM, Friday, May 16 at the Anderson Auto Group Fieldhouse, 3663 Bullhead Pkwy. For more information about the ceremony, visit Mohave.edu/Graduation.
