MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College staff member Amber Tacey has been published by Hiraeth Publishing as part of their Drabble Harvest Contest. A drabble is a fictional short story that’s 100 words in length. Her drabble, “Weeding” references libraries as storages of knowledge. Multiple people from MCC submitted entries and Tacey was the only one selected for publishing.

Tacey is an office technician for the Kingman Campus Library where she helps students navigate and access learning materials and information. She’s also a facilitator for Ovis Club, where she gets to help students embrace their creativity through writing, art and more.

“It feels great to be published for the first time outside of Ovis, MCC’s online journey of art and literature,” Tacey said. “Writers work for publication; we like to share our stories and I just hope readers enjoy it.”

She has worked on numerous short stories and poetry, and she’s currently working on a historical fiction novel based on Vlad the Impaler. Her admiration for writing came from reading fairytales, fictional pieces and peculiar tales.

Tacey has worked at MCC for 20 years. She earned her associate degree in Fine Arts and is currently working on her associate degree in English. She’s a mom of two sons, and enjoys reading, writing and playing video games in her spare time.

Those interested in reading Tacey’s drabble can do so at the MCC Kingman Campus Library.
