The MCC Community Education Division will host its second Art Show and Sale at the College’s Beale Street Center at 309 E. Beale St. from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday, June 7. Students from three of MCC’s campuses will display artwork from various Community Education classes while community members will have the chance to purchase their favorite pieces.
Community Education students from Bullhead City, Kingman and Lake Havasu City are slated to participate in the art show and sale, the second such event following the inaugural sale earlier this year. Lori Gunnette, Associate Dean of Career Training, Professional Development & Community Education, came up with the idea for the show and sale after seeing the amazing work being done in MCC Community Education art classes.
“I just wanted to have an art show so that we can show off the amazing artwork the Community Education students create in our classes,” she said.
Approximately 70 pieces of art including ceramics, watercolor and more will be available for purchase at the event, the proceeds from which will all go to the artists. The majority of those pieces are priced between $25 and $30.
“This is an event that everyone should attend,” Gunnette said. “You can support local artists while at the same time walk home with brand new and locally-made artwork. Every piece was created in an MCC Community Education class.”
Mohave Community College offers a wide range of Community Education courses, in addition to the arts. For more information on MCC’s Community Education offerings, go to ce.mohave.edu.
The MCC General Education and Transfer Division also offers Art and Visual Arts courses in which students can earn college credits. Students enrolled in those programs have the opportunity to earn an associate degree and transfer those college credits to an MCC university partner where they can complete a bachelor’s degree.
