MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College Art faculty, Ann King, was named as a 2024 Women Making History recipient in the arts category. The award recognizes women in Kingman who have shown leadership, professionalism and integrity.
“This is an amazing award,” King said. “I’m truly honored to receive it.”
In the community, King has hosted art shows throughout the years with MCC students through the student art club, where students are able to showcase their art for friends, family and the community to enjoy.
King has been teaching at MCC since 2011 and has been a professional in the art field for 18 years. At MCC, she teaches various art disciplines like photography, drawing, digital design, visual communications and much more.
“Art and photography have allowed me to see the world in ways others don’t see it,” King said. “Teaching allows me to share the vision with those that wish to see what I see.”
Something she enjoys about teaching is the continuing education she earns from being a teacher and seeing her students learn and succeed.
King ended up moving to Kingman because during her educational journey of earning her graduate degree, she did her thesis project on Route 66. Through this project she met some great people and helped find her niche in Kingman.
