MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College students are encouraged to apply for the upcoming 2024 All-USA Academic Team, the Coca-Cola Academic Team, and Coca-Cola New Century Workforce & Transfer Pathway Scholarships. The application deadline is Dec. 1.
MCC joins other community colleges in the state of Arizona by naming institutional nominees to the All-Arizona Academic Team. Students who are selected to represent MCC on the All-Arizona Academic Team-Transfer Pathway may receive a tuition waiver to any one of the three Arizona state universities (Arizona State University, University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University).
MCC admissions recruiter and alumnus, Adam Romano, was named as a 2022 All-Arizona Academic Team-Transfer Pathway member. He used his tuition waiver to finish his bachelor’s degree in Art in Museum Studies from Arizona State University. He will finish his bachelor’s degree in the spring and graduate with honors.
“Winning the All-Arizona Academic Team Scholarship truly proved to me that my patience and hard work was noticed, and that my academic achievements were moving in the correct direction,” Romano said. “I may have given up on school after achieving my associate degree, however, the support from the All-Arizona Academic Team Scholarship allowed me to further develop my passion for higher education and continue on toward a bachelor’s degree.”
Students who are selected to represent MCC via the Workforce Pathway may be further considered for scholarships to obtain necessary certifications, purchase tools or other trade-specific items and more. All‐USA Academic Team nominees may also be considered for the Coca‐Cola Academic Team and New Century Pathway Scholarship programs.
MCC alumna Brooke Prochaska was the 2022 All Arizona Academic Team-Workforce member and was awarded the New Century Workforce Pathway Scholarship. She even attended the Association of Community College Trustees Leadership Congress conference in New York where she was presented with a certificate for winning the workforce scholarship.
“I never thought I would get it but when I did I was shocked and in disbelief. It was a great accomplishment and made me feel more confident in myself,” Prochaska said. “This scholarship helped me start my career which made life a little easier after being in school for two years. The All Arizona Scholarship has taken my academic success much further than I had ever imagined.”
Last year, three students received the All Arizona Academic Team-Transfer Pathway scholarship. In 2022, eight students received the scholarship and in 2021 seven students were awarded the scholarship. MCC can nominate up to 16 students in total for the scholarship.
