MOHAVE COUNTY – Fourteen Mohave Community College Lake Havasu campus students have been inducted to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society-Alpha Chi Chi chapter Friday, March 31 during a ceremony with friends and family.

Phi Theta Kappa’s mission is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students by providing an opportunity for leadership, service, and development. Students are invited to join Phi Theta Kappa if they have achieved a 3.5 GPA and earned 12 credit hours.

“The inductees are dedicated scholars who reflect a passion for learning and a commitment to achieving their educational goals at Mohave Community College and beyond,” Pamela Galovich. PTK Advisor said. “Involvement in PTK helps students grow academically, think critically, and engage with their peers, which benefits them as they continue their education or start their professional careers.”

Guest speaker was Lake Havasu City Mayor Cal Sheehy, who is also an MCC Alumnus. He provided students with advice on how to become great leaders in society and wished them well throughout their educational endeavors.

Students who were inducted are: Ryan Clark, Deborah Foerster, Kevin Gauthun, Haley Gonzales, Jamie Healy, Erin Kirksey, Brittany Maxfield, Wendy McGrew, Julie Monobe, Eric Pope, Alina Rivera, Rylee Semm, Kylie Silcox and Kristin Stark. 

New inductees were welcomed into the honor society by Austin Covington, PTK president and Adam Romano, Vice President of Scholarship, Le Ann Flores Gomez, Secretary and Jasmine Garcia, Treasurer. Anyone who is interested in becoming an MCC student is encouraged to fill out the free online application at Apply.Mohave.edu, or visit a nearby campus for assistance. The college is currently enrolling students in summer and fall semesters, which begin May 22 and August 14. Tuition assistance is available.
