MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College is implementing the Ellucian Colleague computer system to help improve the college experience for students and help employees better support students on the path to success. The first phase launches July 11.

The new system will eliminate the need for nearly a dozen other software applications the college used in the past.

“This is very exciting transition for MCC because every step, from application to graduation, will be smoother and more enjoyable for everyone,” said MCC President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein.  “The outcome will allow students to focus more on their class work and employees will be able to put more time and effort into assisting each student.”

Students signing up for fall semester classes will be the first to experience the improvement to the registration system starting on July 11. Employees with the College Enrollment Management and Student Success Division will be on hand to answer questions and assist.

“We’re looking forward to the opportunities this new system brings to enhance services to students, and once complete, Ellucian Colleague is staged to optimize our operations – so both students and staff will benefit from the new platform,” said Ana Masterson, Dean of Enrollment Management and Student Success.

At the same time, the Information Technology team will continue to implement the full Ellucian system college-wide, and it is expected to be ready for all students and employees in the spring of 2023.  It will feature personalized dashboards where students will be able to schedule meetings with advisors, see their class schedules, register for classes, access financial aid information, and much more.

The new system not only improves the student experience, it also automates and streamlines the processing of data behind the scenes.  Previously, many employees had to manually process and transfer data from one system to another, leaving them little time to assist students.

“If we’re not fighting our systems, if we’re working with them in concert and everything integrates, everything works together then we have made our process simpler we’ve made our students’ processes simpler and we’ve taken away a huge amount of frustration that both students and employees felt every time we hit a registration cycle here at the college,” said MCC Chief Information Officer Mark VanPelt, who manages the College IT Division. “This is the first step in creating a unique and dynamic campus for everybody and it’s really cool and everybody is really excited about it.”

Students who have questions about using the new system should contact a College Advisor, while employees should contact VanPelt (MVanPelt@Mohave.edu) or Loan Hornick (LHornick@Mohave.edu).
