MOHAVE COUNTY – Thirty-five Mohave Community College Lake Havasu campus students have been inducted to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society-Alpha Chi Chi chapter Friday during a ceremony with friends and family.
Phi Theta Kappa’s mission is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students by providing an opportunity for leadership, service, and development. Students are invited to join Phi Theta Kappa if they have achieved a 3.5 GPA and earned 12 credit hours.
“The induction ceremony is to celebrate our students’ commitment to excellence, the pursuit of knowledge and service to the community,” said Pamela Galovich, PTK co-advisor. “Our inductees have distinguished themselves as tenacious and talented scholars and exemplary members of the MCC community. It’s an honor to advise such hard-working and dedicated students.”
Students who were inducted are: Chrissie Alvarado, Justin Begay, Emma Boylan, Aliccia Braaten, Bonnie Bradley, Travis Carlson, Faith Cleveland, Cortney Cormell, Trevor Damon, Dayna Dutton, Taylar Edwards, Jessica Eppard, Beronica Garcia, Angela Gricar, Sol Jaque, Lexi Johnson, Elizabeth Mahler, Shannon Maines, Tarra Metsker, Amy Mitchell, Hannah Myers, Lucy Nelson, Cherie Niquette, Kimberly Pida, Brooke Prochaska, Crystal Rabine, Amy Redick, Adam Romano, Liliana Solis, Leann Stewart, Andranique Thompson, Michael Trifero, Sebna Vizcarra Madera and Ashley Vrana.
Jillian Usher, MCC and PTK alumna, was the guest speaker at the ceremony. Usher gave words of encouragement to students and to use this opportunity to make friendships and memories.
“You’ll look back and realize that you can do these things because you believed in yourself and tonight is such an honor because you are part of something that is bigger than yourself you’re going to make friendships you’re going to make lifelong memories and really hold this as something significant,” Usher said.
New inductees were welcomed into the honor society by Austin Covington, PTK president and Nadia Suarez, PTK vice president of membership. New officers, Adam Romano (Vice President of Scholarship) and Justin Begay (Treasurer), were inducted during the ceremony. PTK club co-sponsors are Galovich and Bhaskar Singh.
