Sarah was nominated as student of the month because she represents what MCC stands for. Dedicated academically with strong clinical skills she is always willing to help her peers. She can be seen in the clinic going about her duties, or helping her fellow students, with a certain poise and grace.

I was lucky enough to meet her for a bit and got to ask her a couple of questions.

What do you enjoy about Mohave Community College?

I really enjoy being able to apply my knowledge learned in coursework to real life clinic scenarios. The dental hygiene program is very unique and provides many hands-on learning opportunities.

Why should someone join the dental program?

I think that anyone who is interested in helping others in a healthcare setting should consider joining the dental hygiene program. Not only will you learn the ins and outs of a profession, you’ll also experience a tremendous amount of personal growth!

What is some advice you would give someone interested in joining the dental program?

The biggest piece of advice that I could give someone who is interested in joining the dental hygiene program would be to not let the amount of courses and coursework intimidate you! It will be challenging at times but it is all achievable and will be worth it!

If you had to guess who nominated you, who would it be?

I would guess that maybe Tracy or Dani nominated me for student of the month.

How do you feel about graduating from Mohave Community College?

It still doesn’t feel real to me! Now that I am at the finish line, it feels like the last 2 years have flown by. I’m very proud of myself as well as my classmates and I know that a part of me will miss it! I am excited to start my career as a dental hygienist and to continue my education!

How does it feel to be student of the month?

It feels pretty good to be student of the month. I’m very thankful for my nomination!

What are your plans for after graduation?

I plan to get a job as a dental hygienist and work towards completing a bachelor’s degree in Allied Health.
