Lake Havasu City Campus hosted the annual Mathlympics on April 5th.
The Mathlympics celebrates students in high schools across the tri-city area who excel in math. First through third place awards are given to students who excel for their teams in several categories ranging from Algebra to Calculus.
Six Schools attended the event sending a little more than 85 students to compete.
The morning was spent in hard competition as the students faced off in their categories, and a sense of relief was felt as everyone attended the free lunch provided after the competition.
Students were seen outside enjoying several small bubble science experiments as they unwound from the morning’s math problems.
While it’s safe to say that nobody did badly, there was some well-deserved applause to the elite of the elite as three victors were announced in each category after lunch.
After each category had announced their three winners, it was time to announce which schools placed in the overall competition.
River Valley High School took third place.
Mohave High School took second place.
And Lake Havasu High School took first place, for the 12th time in a row. Way to hold on to the championship Lake Havasu!
“We enjoy the Mathlympics, we have a really good feeder system in Lake Havasu from our elementary through our middle schools, and then each of our honors classes really build this up all year long. We enjoy the Mathlympics, a lot.” Larry Olsen, winning team coach.
Tune in next year to see if Lake Havasu Highschool is dethroned as Mathlympic champions!
(A special thanks to all the participating schools and students, we wouldn’t have this without you!)
