Have you ever heard of Ovis? If not, I can tell you all about it!
Ovis is MCC’s journal of art and literature. It was founded in 2016 and its first issue was published in the fall of 2017. Ovis accepts all sorts of arts like poetry, photographs, short stories, long stories, fiction, non-fiction, paintings, sound art, and any other creative works done by the MCC community.
I had submitted a poem titled “Reflection” and I was excited and surprised when I had received a call saying that they wanted to publish it in their Fall issue. I took a little trip to the Kingman campus, which is beautiful and I’m super jealous, and got to enjoy other artists and authors reading their stories and poems. Everyone there was supportive and honored that their works were picked too and everyone there made it such a great experience!
I know a couple people at my campus who are exceptional writers and artists and I would love to see their works published in the next issue!
So how do you submit a work to Ovis? It’s easy!!
- Go to mohave.edu
- At the top right, click myMohave
- On the left side under quick links, click Library
- Then at the left under Home, click Ovis
- After that, you will see on the left side Submit, Archive, About, and Contact
If you would like to read from the Fall 2017 issue, just click Archive. Then, click Issue 1, Fall 2017. Remember to give my poem a try as well as many of the other great works!
So, if you write, draw, or play, submit something! Don’t be afraid. Ovis cannot exist without students submitting their works. Ovis is accepting submissions now and the deadline for the spring issue will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018. I’m looking forward to seeing all the creative genius that MCC holds!
