This past week Mohave Community College participated in the 19th annual Boom Box Parade, a parade that they’ve participated in since it began. This years theme was “Show us your Superhero” and MCC spent several days putting their float together with Bullhead Campus Student Activities Council President Zamina Cook spending a solid two days working hard on the float for the parade.

MCC walked the parade with their mascot Boomer Bighorn, a flag, their float, and their amazing Holiday spirit! MCC was not alone, of course, in attending the Boom Box Parade; some of the other businesses and clubs to join up in the parade were the Boy Scout clubs, local ROTC, Desert Valley Elementary, Mohave Electric, Bullhead City Junior High, and Mohave Accelerated. Also in attendance were quite a number of veterans groups as well as the mayor of Bullhead City and even Santa Clause showed up!

I believe everyone from MCC is a super hero just by being themselves and showing support of their careers and the future careers available to our community thanks to the offerings at MCC. If a student was studying in the medical field, they were representing themselves as their own type of super hero by wearing their representative shirt.

The main rules were to stay safe, smile, and don’t stress. If you didn’t participate this year, save your spirit for next year! More information on the parade itself is on at the website for the Colorado River Women’s Council website, our sponsors of the Boom Box Parade. Here is hoping to see some of you there next year!
