Mohave Community College has been selected one of the best values in America for online business classes that lead to an associate degree.
MCC was ranked on several factors including tuition value, relevancy of the curriculum to the demands of the field, how much the program prioritizes individual attention, and exceptional student services for digital learners, according to the website Great Value Colleges. It ranks MCC the 3rd best community college in the country for the value of its online business program.
Several aspects of MCC were noted for pushing the college to the top of the list. Such as course offerings, a student to faculty ratio of 13 to 1, and if you are a first-time MCC student the college offers 50% off tuition the first class you take. “So you can see if they (MCC) are a good fit for your educational needs,” Great Value College authors wrote.
Also noted in the ranking is the fact that MCC students can earn their associate of applied science in business and entrepreneurship, which includes coursework in marketing and human resource management. Students also have access to career services and resume building tips and access to several popular job boards.
“Our Business Degrees at MCC help students start and operate their own business or gain upward mobility and promotion from their current position,” said Candace Hofstadter, MCC lead resident faculty in business. “Our program also prepares students to transfer to a university for a bachelor’s degree, and they save thousands of dollars by first starting here at MCC.”
“I’m not surprised by this top ranking because our faculty work hard every day to make sure our students receive the best educational opportunities available,” said MCC President Michael Kearns. “We’ve also not raised our tuition in three years, which is almost unheard of in higher education.”
He also pointed out, this ranking helps reinforce the fact that the MCC business program, along with corporate training and the small business development center bring a lot of value to students and the community.
One example are the Business Incubators on MCC campuses. These are locations on the campuses that can temporarily be used by entrepreneurs and businesses. It gives them access to internet, phones and other office essentials.
Currently DOT Foods is using the MCC Business Incubator on the Bullhead City campus, while the company’s new building is constructed at the city’s airport industrial park.
For MCC students, the incubators are one of many indicators that prove the college cares about the value of business, because it is working to support the regional workforce and economic development.
“We pride ourselves on providing valuable online support to helps students succeed in our program and in today’s competitive job market,” said Erik Jones, MCC resident faculty. “This ranking also reinforces our ongoing focus on providing a quality learning experience at an affordable price for our students.”
