BULLHEAD CITY — There’s a lot of stress associated with being a student, Tracy Gift said.
“They’re graded on everything,” said Gift, director of dental programs at Mohave Community College. “They’re not being graded today. We’re making sure they do a good job, but we’re not grading them.”
The students — everyone enrolled in MCC’s dental assisting and dental hygiene programs — did most of the work as the college hosted its Give Kids a Smile event for the 11th time.
The students performed cleanings and fluoride treatments and applied sealants, plastic coating applied to the biting surface of teeth to protect the enamel. They worked under the supervision of dentists Dr. Kristen Vogel and Dr. Matthew Vogel — a married couple who volunteered their time — and dental program faculty.
