MCC designates the following categories of student information as public or “Directory Information.”  At its discretion, the institution may disclose such information unless a student requests that it not be revealed. 

MCC may use the student’s I.D. number for informal research.

• Category 1:  Name, address, telephone number and dates of attendance.
• Category 2:  Previous institution(s) attended, major field of study, awards, honors (includes Dean’s List) and degree(s) conferred (including dates).
• Category 3:  Past and present participation in officially-recognized sports and activities, physical factors (height, weight of athletes) and date and place of birth.

Currently-enrolled students may withhold disclosures of any category of information under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended. 

Written notification must be received in the Office of the Registrar prior to the first day of classes each semester.  Failure on the part of any student to specifically request that categories of “Directory Information” be withheld, indicates individual approval for disclosure.
