ITV Courses - Be on Television!

(May be taught from any of the southern campuses - Lake Havasu, Bullhead City or Kingman.)

Anticipated Need

  • ELC 101 Introduction to Electrical Concepts: (Trades qualification) Introduction to Electrical Concepts provides the basic principles of electrical safety, electrical theory, alternating current, raceways, boxes and fittings, fasteners and anchors, hand bending, conductors and conductor terminations and splices, and wiring. Students learn the proper selection, inspection, use and maintenance of common electrical test equipment and are introduced to the National Electrical Code.
  • ELC 102 Intermediate Electrical Concepts: (Trades qualification) Students implement methods and techniques for the installation of electric services. Students conduct in depth exploration of motors theory and application, grounding conduit bending, boxes and fittings, conductor installations, cable tray, conductor terminations and splices, circuit breakers and fuses, contractors and relays. Students also examine the basic principles of human vision and the characteristics of light.
  • ELC 103 Advanced Electrical Concepts: (Trades qualification) Students use industry standards to conduct load calculations for branch circuits, conductor selections and calculations, and to conduct motor calculations. Students examine overcurrent protection for all types of electrical systems, raceway, box and fitting requirements, wiring devices, distribution equipment, lamps, ballasts and components, and the distribution system transformers. Students conduct motor maintenance and select, size, and install motor controls. All classes of hazardous locations are also covered.
  • ELC 104 Mastery Electrical Concepts: (Trades qualification) Students compute basic calculations for commercial and residential electrical applications, examine NEC installation requirements for electric generators, fire alarm systems, specialty transformers, advanced motor controls, heat tracing and freeze protection, high-voltage terminations/splices, and standby and emergency systems. Students become adept at electrical troubleshooting and NEC requirements. 

 TO QUALIFY

Automotive: Five (5) years current work experience in the field (must be able to document). Associate's Degree preferred, but not required. Must possess or obtain at least one current ASE certification (A1 through A8) within the first six months of employment. 

Business: Associate's Degree or five (5) years experience in the field to be taught (must be able to document) or specialized certificate(s) in the field to be taught.

Chemical Dependency Therapy (CHD): Associate's Degree or five (5) years experience in the field to be taught (must be able to document) or specialized certificate(s) in the field to be taught.

Computer Information Systems: Associate's Degree or five years work experience or specialized certificate.

Transitional Math and/or English: Same as those listed for General Education or Bachelor's Degree in the field to be taught or Bachelor's Degree in any field with 24 lower/upper division semester hours in the field to be taught.

ELAA: AED certification as indicated above. Preference given to individuals with Bachelor's degree with major/minor in English, TSL or related field such as Linguistics.

General Education: Applicants must meet one of the following qualification requirements to teach the General Education areas listed above:

  • Master's Degree in the teaching field; or 
  • Master's Degree in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in teaching field; or 
  • Master's Degree in any field with 24 upper division and/or graduate semester hours in the teaching field;
  • Bachelor's Degree in the field plus three (3) years of recent occupational experience in the field to be taught.

HES: Associate's Degree or certificate in Medical Assisting/Back Office or five (5) years work experience as medical assistant/back office or LPN, RN or PA (must be able to document).

Precollege Studies: State certification is required to teach these courses. New instructors may teach for one semester while awaiting receipt of certification. Documentation of application for state certification must be provided. Information regarding certification requirements is available from the Arizona Department of Education.

Trades: Associate's Degree in the field or five (5) years work experience in the field (must be able to document) or specialized certificate(s) in the field to be taught.

Welding: Associate's Degree in the field or five (5) years work experience and must hold or have held certification in the welding processes to be taught.
