Project: Community College Grant for Nursing Programs
Funder: Arizona Department of Commerce
Participants: Linda Riesdorph, Director of Nursing; Jerry Stein, EMS Director; Tim Montbriand, Grants Specialist

Mohave Community College seeks to expand the enrollment in its Nursing Program to graduate more Registered Nurses and keep pace with the allied healthcare needs of Mohave County and rural Arizona

Mohave Community College proposes to use the monies from the Arizona Department of Commerce’s Community College Grant for Nursing Programs to pay the salaries and benefits of two new full-time nursing faculty members and three clinical supervisory faculty, equip the full-time faculty members with workable office space, and cover the additional operational costs of expanding the enrollment in the Nursing Program. One of the new full-time faculty members will work with the Director of Nursing and the EMS Director to develop a Paramedic-to-RN program.

With the addition of two full-time Nursing faculty members and three part-time Nursing faculty members, the Nursing Program will be able to expand its enrollment and place students in rewarding and high-paying careers that benefit the citizens of Mohave County. The grant award is for one year, with a possible renewal period of three years.
