LEARNING DISABILITY - The assessment must indicate an aptitude-achievement discrepancy with aptitude being greater.

The neurophychological, psychoeducational, or psychological evaluation for the diagnosis of a specific learning disability must provide clear evidence that a learning disability does or does not exist.

Aptitude Assessment - Intellectual functioning which demonstrates average or above average intelligence.

  • WAIS III or Stanford - Binet 4th edition are recommended
  • Raven is accepted it if can be demonstrated that use or the above tests are contraindicated due to severe language deficits

Include scaled scores of all sub-tests

  • Achievement Assessment
  • Individually administered measure of level of achievement - A screen of level of achievement is not acceptable
  • Woodcock-Johnson Psychoeducational Battery -revised or the WIAT are recommended: or any combination of instruments determining current achievement in reading, written language, and mathematics.

Report - A full written report is required and must include the following:        

  • Dates of assessment
  • Names, titles, certification or license number
  • Summary of results
  • All stub-test scores
  • Statement of diagnosis\
  • Statement of functional limitations
  • All scores should be reported in standard score format
  • A school plan, such as an IEP, or 504 plan is insufficient documentation.
