Disability Eligibility

Eligibility Statement: Any student who has a disability which substantially limits one or more major life activities, e.g., walking, speaking, seeing, hearing, learning, etc., is eligible to receive accommodations through the Community College’s Disability Services program.

In order to receive accommodations, the student must provide documentation of his or her disability, which includes a diagnosis and a description of functional limitations (of the major life activity). To review specific disabilities information, check out our definitions. Mohave Community College does not provide personal assistants, eyeglasses, or hearing aids.

Steps for Obtaining Services

  • Call a Disability Services Representative to make an appointment.
  • Complete a Disability Services Student Intake Form.
  • Obtain your disability documentation from your medical, educational or psychological professionals.
  • Bring a copy of your documentation regarding your disability as well as a copy of your Mohave Community College class schedule to the appointment.
  • Discuss appropriate accommodations for the courses on your class schedule.
  • Develop an Individual accommodation plan based on the documentation, coursework and discussion.

Your Accommodation Request Form will be mailed to your instructors. Please discuss your requested accommodations with your instructors; your Disability Services Specialist will assist you in requesting those accommodations if you like.

Please note: *If your documentation does not meet the guidelines above, Mohave Community College's Director of Disability Services may review the documentation to determine if it is sufficient for you to receive services.
