Sexual harassment is viewed as a violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and should not be tolerated by either students or staff.

Sexual harassment in the workplace is defined in the following way:

  • Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when;
    1. Submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly as a term or condition of an individual’s employment
    2. Submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individuals
    3. Such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work, or creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment

The supervisor should deal with observed or reported incidents of sexual harassment immediately. If you are unsure what constitutes sexual harassment, review the guidelines in the Mohave Community College Catalog or the Student Handbook.
