LIBRARY INSTRUCTION - The library provides instruction on utilizing library resources.  These sessions may be customized in length and content based on the needs of your class and students.  Please contact your local campus library to schedule a library instruction session for your class.  

FILM & VIDEO REQUESTS 

  • Instructors may obtain films (VHS or DVD videos) for use in their teaching through the Library in cooperation with the Mohave Accelerated Learning Center.
  • Trish Gohman, pgohman@mohave.edu, or telephone at 928.757.0883, (or internal ext. 1183) in Library Technical Services coordinates all film requests. Please contact Trish for necessary forms and information, or to make a request.

INSTRUCTOR RESERVES

  • Instructors may request that personally owned materials or materials from the library collection be placed on reserve, to ensure availability to students.
  • Items may be placed on reserve at any time throughout the semester. 

TABLE OF CONTENTS SERVICE - To help you stay current in your field, the library can make photocopies of journal articles.  If you sign up for this service, tables of contents for the titles you select will be placed in your mailbox when new issues arrive.  Then, simply circle the articles you want copied, and return the form to the library mailbox.

INTERCAMPUS & INTER-LIBRARY LOAN SERVICE

  • Library materials located at another MCC campus may be requested through our Online Catalog. 
  • Please allow 2-3 business days for requested items to arrive.
  • Please allow at least 7-10 days for materials from other libraries (not another MCC Campus) requested through inter-library loan. (I.L.L.)
  • Both books and articles may be obtained through I.L.L.

  • This is a free service.

TITLE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LIBRARY COLLECTIONS - Faculty are encouraged to recommend titles for addition to the library collection since they have valuable, direct knowledge regarding their field and their students’ information needs. 

  • Books in Print - Books in Print, a reference source on the publishing industry, is available in the Library to assist you in obtaining complete information for a book request.  The Subject Guide provides useful information about recently published books in your field of interest. You may also use www.amazon.com for information and reviews.
  • Book Review Magazines - Many faculty read book reviews in their subject area to help them in making recommendations.  If you would like to be added to the routing slip for Choice, Booklist, Library Journal and/or Publishers Weekly, please contact your Campus Librarian.

COMPUTERS & RESEARCH DATABASES

  • Library computers with Internet access are provided for the use of students, faculty and the public.  Library computers are for research purposes only.
  • The Library subscribes to numerous online databases providing extensive full-text access to thousands of titles, including both scholarly and popular sources. (See a list and database descriptions --> HERE)
  • REMOTE ACCESS - Library databases may be accessed from your home office via the Library home page at http://www.mohave.edu/library. Remote access requires an MCC library card.

PERIODICALS & NEWSPAPERS

  • Journal and Magazine subscriptions are reviewed annually.  Please direct requests for new periodical subscriptions to your Campus Librarian.
  • The Library subscribes to various local and national newspapers including The Kingman Daily Miner, The Las Vegas Review-Journal, The Mohave Valley Daily News, and Today’s News-Herald (Lake Havasu City).  Many major national and international newspapers are also available in full-text online via our Lexis-Nexis database.
  • Back issues of periodicals may be checked out for three weeks. Current issues are in-library use only.
