"Most college coursework is timeless,” said Chuck Spotts, vice chancellor of instruction and student services. “If you received credit for an English, math or psychology course from an accredited college in the past, it will likely apply today. One exception is courses in science because it is an ever-evolving discipline. Science courses are valid for 10 years and after that must be retaken.”
Individuals who have copies of their transcripts can stop by Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and discuss opportunities with an advisor. For those who need transcripts, the advisors will go online with the student or assist with toll-free calls to their previous colleges to order official and/or unofficial transcripts.
Unofficial transcripts are adequate for determining what credits are likely to apply and to what program of study. Once the students are ready to enroll, they will need to have official transcripts sent directly to the office of the registrar who will analyze the course descriptions from their previous colleges and apply all eligible credits to the students’ MCC records.
“Area businesses and human resources departments are encouraged to share information about ACT-NOW with their employees,” said MCC Chancellor Michael Kearns. “After all, a well-educated workforce is a key component in a successful business and a thriving economy.”
