The Paralegal program is one of several new programs in career fields offering above-average income, job availability and working conditions.

Although most paralegals work in support of a law office, paralegals may also provide many of the legal services usually handled by lawyers, with the exception of giving clients legal advice. Job opportunities may vary. Paralegals may function as an integral part of a law firm, or they may become a legal assistant, title examiner, trust officer, contract clerk, legal investigator or law firm administrator. 

MCC offers an associate of applied science paralegal degree, a basic paralegal certificate, and a post-degree certificate.

  • The Associate of Applied Science Paralegal degree program will be 64 credit hours and will fully prepare students for entry into the paralegal profession. Learn how to conduct legal research, master legal writing skills. learn ethical rules for members of the legal community, and many more to become a paralegal, title examiner, trust officer, contract clerk, legal investigator or law firm administrator.
  • The Post-degree Certificate is offered to students who have already earned a two or four year degree and wish to transition their profession into the legal field. These students will take both the core and the special emphasis courses, totaling 42 hours.
  • The Basic Certificate Program is 24 credit hours of core paralegal courses that gives an overview of the paralegal profession, learn the ethical rules for members of the legal community and much more
