How long does it take to complete a certificate program? MCC offers certificates in automotive, electrical, HVAC, industrial maintenance, welding, truck driver training and drafting. These certificates range from 8 to 30 credit hours, depending upon the area of speciality. Consult the MCC catalog Pages 87-92 (available online) for more details. It takes 1 - 2 semesters to complete a certificate, depending upon how many classes you can take each semester.

What are the prerequisites for the industrial technology certificates and degrees? Some programs require you to take the compass assessment and complete or test out of ENG 085. Some classes require MAT 020 also.

What are the residency requirements for MCC? Please refer to Pages 6 and 7 of the college catalog (available online) for residency requirements, and Page 15 for tuition and fees schedule.

Is financial aid available? Yes, MCC has extensive financial aid available. Please see Pages 20-25 in the college catalog for information on applying for financial aid, and available scholarships. Students who are interested should apply for aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see if they qualify. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov for an online application.

Who determines if course work transfers to MCC? The MCC Registrar makes all decisions regarding transfer of courses and will only evaluate official written transcripts. Visit your local MCC campus Student Services office for more information.

Will my degree transfer to a 4-year university?  Often AAS degrees are not designed to transfer, many institutions such as ASU have programs that accept industrial technology degrees toward a BAS (Bachelor of Applied Science) degree. Associate of General Studies (AGS) degrees are not generally transferable; however many of the classes will transfer as electives toward a 4-year degree. Check with the institution to which you will be transferring for more information.

How often are classes offered? Industrial Technology classes are offered every semester including summers. Classes are available during day and evening hours, limited weekends, and online through MCC's distance education program. Some programs may have specific fall semester start dates.

Can I improve my GPA? Yes, classes may be repeated in order to improve your final grade.

Are these programs accredited? Yes, MCC programs are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, other accreditations apply to specific programs.
