Early Start Scholarship Program

Earn college credit through the Early Start Scholarship Program.

Early Start is a scholarship program for Mohave County high school students, home schooled students and Mohave Community College GED graduates.

Here's how it works:

This scholarship is awarded for a total of ten credit hours (Arizona in-state tuition) for courses numbered 100 or above. Students will be required to use three of the ten credits to complete the STU 103 course to qualify for Early Start Scholarship. Students can use this scholarship one year from the date the GED certificate is issued or for three semesters after completion of the student’s junior year. The semesters include the summer semester (session) after the junior year and the fall and spring semester during a student’s senior year.

The scholarship award pays tuition only for college level course work leading to an MCC declared degree or certificate. The student is responsible for all other fees (such as books and other supplies required for the course) at the time of registration. Scholarship funds are limited and will be awarded on a first come first served basis. The college reserves the right to limit the scholarship at any time if budgetary restrictions should occur.

All students applying for this scholarship must meet with the local campus Recruiter to determine eligibility and approve the award.

  1. Student completes MCC Admissions Process
  2. Student schedules and takes COMPASS Assessment
  3. Student meets with Recruiter who will:
    1. Review assessment scores and determine eligibility
    2. Assist with completion of Early Start Application Form
    3. Help student determine courses and educational goals
    4. Assist student with completion of a degree declaration
  4. Recruiter reviews and approves application and assists student with registration for courses within degree plan
  5. Student must register within five days of approval and pay all fees at the time of registration

MCC GED graduates must submit the GED letter they received to the Recruiter for assistance and approval of Early Start Application.

Home schooled students must submit a copy of the “Affidavit of Intent” on file with the Mohave County Superintendent of Schools Office to the Recruiter.

High school students take the Early Start Application form to their high school counselor for signature verifying senior status.
